Vacancy Brief Description
The Permanent Secretary (Health) and The Permanent Secretary (Active Ageing), Ministry for Health and Active Ageing, invites applications from
1: Nurses and Midwives who have already reached retirement age (not more than 70 years of age) or
2. Nurses and Midwives who are expected to reach retirement age by the 31st December 2026.
These retired or retiring nurses and midwives – whether current or former public officers or individuals who did not previously serve as public officers – are invited to apply to perform duties within the Malta Public Service on a full-time or part time basis.
Salary
A selected person will be paid in accordance with applicable rules and regulations as established by the Malta Public Service, which reflects the respective Sectoral Agreement of the Nursing and Midwifery Class.
The chosen persons in the grade of retired/retiring Nurses or Midwives who return to the Public Service to perform duties within the Malta Public Service will be renumerated at the Salary Scale and step on which they retired/are to retire.
Nurses or Midwives who held a management post prior to their retirement shall be placed in the grade of Senior Staff Nurse or Senior Midwives (as applicable) on the maximum scale 7.

Eligibility
Candidates must possess the same requisites as is usually required for such grades within the Public Service of Malta including registration with the Council for Nurses and Midwives Malta and proficiency in the Maltese and English Language.
